A joint meeting between the General Administration of Customs and the experts of the Omani Association for Intellectual Property

A joint meeting was recently held between specialists in the General Administration of Customs at the Royal Oman Police, and experts in the Omani Society for Intellectual Property, with the aim of reviewing the draft list of border measures that the General Administration of Customs intends to implement to protect intellectual property rights and the measures taken by the General Administration of Customs in relation to border measures To protect intellectual property rights in the Sultanate and the development achieved by the Department in this aspect by raising and developing the capabilities of its affiliates in the field of intellectual property and the strategy followed by the Department in this regard. The meeting included a review of the draft border measures for the protection of intellectual property rights and access to the electronic system that will be applied by the General Administration of Customs to extend this protection. set by the Unified Customs System of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. On the other hand, the Omani Association for Intellectual Property seeks to enhance and develop cooperation with the competent authorities in the country in the field of intellectual property rights protection, and to raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property rights and the great role it plays in protecting intellectual property rights holders. At the end of the meeting, the association’s experts were pleased with the comprehensiveness of the regulation, the sobriety of the texts, and their compatibility with the system of legislation in force regarding the protection of intellectual property rights in the Sultanate.
