Signing a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Education.

The Ministry of Education and the Omani Society for Intellectual Property signed this morning a memorandum of cooperation in the field of intellectual property awareness for school students, and to provide free consultations for those wishing to register their innovations and ideas. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education on the part of the ministry, while it was signed by the Omani Association for Intellectual Property, Dr. Abdulwahab bin Nasser Al-Mandhari, Vice Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, in the presence of Dr. Mia bint Saeed Al-Azriya, in charge of managing the Innovation and Olympiad Al-Alami, and Eng. Saeed bin Hammoud Al-Hadrami, Executive Director of the Society. Dr. Mia bint Saeed Al-Azriya, in charge of managing the Department of Innovation and Scientific Olympiad, said: This cooperation with the Omani Intellectual Property Association enhances the role played by the Ministry in the field of intellectual property rights awareness, by benefiting from local community institutions in providing expertise and advice related to intellectual property for students. Organizing joint events with the aim of serving the innovators of school students. The Ministry has long begun to spread awareness of the importance of intellectual property, especially the existence of the Department of Innovation and the Scientific Olympiad, which allows students to participate with their innovations in competitions held at the regional, national and international levels. It was necessary for students to be aware The importance of protecting the innovative idea, and thus knowing the laws, regulations, and procedures to be followed to protect their rights as innovators. Al-Azari added: We started working with relevant institutions at the local level in the Intellectual Property Department of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion, and at the global level in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), where several events were organized to train teachers in spreading awareness of the importance of ownership. Intellectual property, teaching students the principles and laws of intellectual property, in addition to training specialists in innovation departments and scientific Olympiads in educational directorates, on how to register applications for patents, copyrights and other intellectual property rights.
